Movie - THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS (Superbit DTS) (Japan Import) JPN-SB-32937 Directed by Rob Cohen ("Dragonheart," "The Skulls"), the basic plotline for "The Fast and the Furious" is identical to "Point Break" the excellent 1991 actioner with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Instead of the older film's surfer bank robbers, we've got drug racer truck hijackers. Paul Walker ("The Skulls," "Joy Ride") plays the Keanu role, while Vin Diesel ("Pitch Black,""Saving Private Ryan") fits the Swayze role nicely as the charismatic drag racer who befriends Walker's undercover cop. Although the violence is much toned down (while in "Point Break" only a couple of main characters survive the film while virtually no-one dies in this film) the car chase/race scenes are as exciting and adrenaline pumping as the skydiving scenes in that film.Running Time: 107mins.
